Ag Groups Respond to Farm Bill Movement

U.S. ag groups are reacting to the House and Senate Ag Committee leaders who released their farm bill overviews.

鈥淲e are very pleased with the Farm Bill framework from House Ag Chair GT Thompson,鈥 says Ethan Lane, VP of government affairs with the NCBA. 鈥淲e are especially pleased with the focus on voluntary conservation programs that are increasingly popular with cattle producers. However, the Senate version suffers from a lack of producer input.鈥

The 果冻直播 Farm Bureau says both proposals acknowledge that farm programs require additional investment due to falling commodity prices and higher interest rates. 鈥淒etails are important,鈥 says AFBF President Zippy Duvall. 鈥淭here鈥檚 still a lot of work to do.鈥

Corey Rosenbusch of The Fertilizer Institute was pleased to see many of TFI鈥檚 priorities included in both overviews. 鈥淲e鈥檙e happy to see so many of the industry鈥檚 priorities around conservation and nutrient stewardship included in both frameworks,鈥 he says.
